County OKs Senior Citizen Service District Measure

The Johnson County Commissioners considered a Resolution at their meeting Tuesday that would establishment a senior citizen service district in the county and put the issue before the voters in the county at the primary election in August to establish the district.
The district, if approved by voters, would establish a reliable revenue source which will be used to help fund the Buffalo Senior Center and various senior citizen-related programs within the county.
Wyoming statute allows for the establishment of a senior citizen service district if the question is submitted by the board of county commissioners to be voted on by the residents in the county.
The Resolution passed by the commission Tuesday set the district boundaries to encompass the entirety of Johnson County and would allow up to one mill and will now send the measure to the voters of Johnson County on the primary election ballot.
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 18th.
