I humbly ask for your vote to serve as “The People’s Sheriff” of Sheridan County. Since I was a young man, I have been dedicated to serving the community. I swore an oath to serve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States and I take that oath very seriously as a solemn promise to protect the citizens’ God given rights.
My career in public service started 21 years ago and I began working for the City of Sheridan as a firefighter in 2008. I have worked closely with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office and Sheridan Police Department, as well as other public services agencies in the County. As a landowner in Sheridan and local business owner since 2011, I am familiar with area, the people, and needs of the community.
As Sheriff, I will fiercely commit to uphold and defend our Constitutional rights and to foster a strong, mutually respectful relationship between the citizens of Sheridan County and law enforcement. I believe in investing in the community through youth mentoring programs and have a vision to enhance the Deputy Reserve Program to ensure the safety of our citizens and deputies. I aim to reach across borders to cultivate cooperative relationships with neighboring counties and states for mutual aid. I vow to be transparent, approachable, and a trusted member of the community.
I am a committed leader with the tools and experience to carry out the duties as Sheriff. I promise to serve and protect the citizens of Sheridan County in a Constitutional and fair manner. It is a privilege working with the citizens of Sheridan County as a firefighter and would be an honor to perform as a liaison between the people and law enforcement as “The People’s Sheriff”,
Together we will continue to preserve Sheridan as a free and safe County to live, work, and raise our children.

I have known Zac since he was a young man as a cadet on Custer volunteer fire department and he is one of the most honest straight forward persons I know, I am lucky to call him a friend and someone who anyone can count on.

Zach is an outstanding man of integrity and grit. He has always stood up for what is right, against all odds. His work ethic and commitment to whatever he sets his mind to is second to none. Wish I lived in Sheridan, he would have my vote 100% McLain for Sherif!

Courteous that Zach has no law enforcement experience
