William Joseph Logan
William J. Logan, known to most as Bill, was born on January 17, 1936, in Odessa, Minnesota. A former resident of Story, Wyoming, Bill passed away on October 7, 2026, in Sheridan, Wyoming. He lived a life filled with hard work, adventure, family, and a sense of humor that stayed with him to the end.
Bill joined the United States Air Force in 1956, finishing his military career as a nuclear weapons specialist. He later worked for Hercules Powder Company, driving the “Angel Buggy” loaded with nitroglycerin. After enough brushes with fate, he decided carpentry offered better odds and traded explosives for a hammer.
Building became a lifelong pursuit. Even in his final days, despite losing his sight, Bill continued to tinker and build. His hands still had work to do, and he saw no reason to tell them otherwise.
Bill loved coaching and playing baseball, camping, fishing, and hunting. Whether on the ballfield or out in the wilderness, he enjoyed being part of the action.
Within his family, Bill was famous for his self-proclaimed “world’s best pancakes.” Among his friends, he was equally well known for announcing that he was “getting better looking every day.” Neither claim suffered from a lack of confidence.
Bill is survived by his sons, Joe and Jerry; his daughters, Julie, Jo, and Joy; and a gaggle of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom made him proud.
He leaves his family and friends with stories to tell, laughter to share, and a pancake title that may forever remain disputed. As for getting better looking every day, we’ll let Bill have the last word. Online condolences may be made to www.sheridanfuneral.com. Arrangements are under the care of Sheridan Funeral Home.
