The Festival of Trees is under way in Sheridan to raise funds for Sheridan and Johnson County Special Olympic athletes.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. – event starts at 6 p.m. – Thursday Nov. 30. at the Sheridan Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. Tickets are $25 a piece, two for $40, or a reserved table of eight for $150. Tables need to be ordered by the morning of Nov. 29.
Sheridan athlete Ellie Gill has won bronze, silver and gold medals while participating in Special Olympics. She made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse along with Special Olympics Coordinator Jarod Martin, to explain the games and inform the public what the games mean to her and her fellow athletes.

According to Special Olympics Wyoming, their mission is to provide year round participation in sports training and athletic competition in a variety of well-coached Olympic-Type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities by providing athletes with continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness skills, express courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of talents, skills and friendship with their families, friends, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
The Festival of Trees raises funds for Sheridan and Johnson County athletes to train and take part in the games. Fully decorated Christmas trees will be up for bid. These trees will be delivered to the home or business of the winning bidder at no extra cost.
