Two of the four Sheridan County High School volleyball teams were in Casper vs. some tough competition and had pretty good results.
On the first day of the Casper Invitational, the Sheridan Lady Broncs defeated Riverton 2-0 (25-23, 25-17) and Douglas 2-1 (24-25, 25-14, 21-19) then lost vs. Laramie 2-0 (25-12, 25-17).
Since they finished 2nd in the pool, the team was placed in the gold bracket on Saturday vs. other 1st and 2nd place teams from their respective pools.
Sheridan got a tough draw losing to Kelly Walsh 2-0 (25-10, 25-13) and then to Evanston 2-0 (28-26, 25-15), to finish 2-3 on the weekend.
That puts their record at 6-15 on the season.
Up next, the Lady Broncs will head back to Casper on Thursday, September 30th, to play Green River at 6pm.
That game will be played in Natrona’s gym.
Then on Friday, they will host Cheyenne Central at 6pm, and then Saturday, host Cheyenne East at noon.
Big Horn ended up playing 7 games over the course of the weekend and come out with 4 wins and 3 losses.
First up, was a 2A Northeast clash with rival Tongue River.
BH got the sweep, but the scores were close through out (25-18, 25-19, 25-19)
Then at the Casper Invitational on Friday, the Lady Rams first lost to Thunder Basin 2-0 (25-17, 25-24), defeated Cheyenne South 2-0 (25-19, 25-18), then lost to Evanston 2-0 (25-11, 25-24).
That put Big Horn in the silver bracket for Saturday’s game.
First they beat Rawlins 2-0 (25-19, 25-17) and Riverton 2-0 (25-21, 25-21).
That put the Lady Rams in the Silver Bracket championship game vs. Campbell County, but they came up short, losing 2-0 (25-21, 25-23).
BH’s record at this point is 13-9-2 on the season with a 3-0 record in the 2A Northeast.
Next up are game at Kaycee on Friday, October 1st starting at noon, and then at Sundance on Saturday starting at 2pm.
The weekend did not go well for Tongue River as they started 2A Northeast quadrant play.
The Lady Eagles lost at Big Horn on Thursday 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-19), and the lost at Sundance on Saturday 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 21-25, 25-15).
TR’s record at this point of the season is 7-6-2 with an 0-2 record in the 2A Northeast.
The Lady Eagles continue their road trip on Friday, October 1st at Lovell (6pm start) and on Saturday at Moorcroft (3pm start).
In their lone game of the week, Arvada-Clearmont lost 3-0 at Rock River on Saturday (25-13, 25-19, 25-17).
The Lady Panthers have a record of 1-8-2 on the season with an 0-4 record in the 1A Northeast at this point in the season.
A-C is scheduled to visit Upton on Friday, October 1st, starting at 1pm.
