Sheridan County High School Volleyball Teams Start 2021 Season

Action on the volleyball court started with a flurry of matches for the Sheridan County teams, in three different locations.

The Sheridan Lady Broncs played in Riverton this past weekend and came out of it with a 2-4 record.

On Friday (August 27th), they lost to Cody 2-0 (21-11, 21-13) and to Riverton 2-1 (17-21, 21-13, 15-8), but finished the day by beating Worland 2-0 (21-15, 21-13).

Then on Saturday, Sheridan got back at Riverton, beating them 2-1 (21-15, 7-21, 15-13), but then lost to Lander 2-0 (21-12, 21-13) and lost to Cody again 2-0 (21-18, 21-17).

The Lady Broncs are scheduled to compete in the Gillette Invitational this weekend.

Big Horn split their games this past weekend at the Douglas Invitational, but finished runner-up at the event.

In Friday pool play the Lady Rams lost to Burns 2-1 (11-25, 28-26, 15-12), then beat the host team 2-1 (23-25, 25-22, 15-10), and then lost to Southeast 2-0 (25-18, 25-17)

In Saturday bracket play, BH beat Newcastle 2-1 (27-29, 25-20, 15-10), then won the rematch vs. Southeast 2-0 (25-19, 25-23)

That put Big Horn in the championship match, where they lost 2-0 (25-18, 25-19) vs. Alliance, Nebraska.

The Lady Rams will join Sheridan at the Gillette Invitational this weekend.

Tongue finished runner-up at the North Big Horn County Invitational played at Lovell and at Rocky Mountain High School in Cowley.

The Lady Eagles defeated Meeteetse 2-0 (25-15, 25-12), then lost to Riverside 2-0 (25-22, 25-10), and then had to settle for a tie vs. Lovell 1-1 (26-24, 26-27).

In bracket play, TR beat Meeteetse again 2-0 (25-22, 25-16), and then lost to Riverside in the championship game 2-0 (25-19, 25-19), to finish 2-2-1 on the weekend.

Tongue River does not have a varsity opponent scheduled for this weekend.

They will next play at the Big Horn Invitational on September 10th and 11th.

Arvada-Clearmont was scheduled to host the Sheridan sophomore team this past Friday.

A final score has not been reported.

The Lady Panthers are scheduled to play Thursday, September 2nd at home vs. Upton (6pm varsity start), Friday at home vs. Ten Sleep (4pm varsity start), and Saturday at home vs. Midwest (1pm varsity start).
