Sheridan Hawks Sweep Series At Butte; Preparing For Home Series Vs. Great Falls And Butte
He may have been a little late to the party, but an Alaskan hockey player is making his presence known with the Sheridan Hawks.
Dante Hunziker, who comes from Fairbanks, Alaska, joined the team about 3 weeks ago and has already scored 7 goals in 5 games, plus scored a hat trick this past Saturday.
He says his style of play fits in well with the team.
“I’m kind of a physical player. I like to shoot the puck, pass the puck, move it around, so playing with a guy like (Vincent) Leaf and (Max) Krueger that can shoot the puck, it just makes it easy for me, but I’d say I didn’t really have to switch up my game much, just got to keep working hard.”
The Hawks are scheduled to play 2 games at home this weekend.
Sheridan will play Great Falls on Friday and Butte on Saturday.
The puck drops at 7:30pm in both games.

The Butte Irish played host to the visiting Sheridan Hawks on Friday and Saturday nights at the Butte Community Ice Center.
Friday night Butte opened the scoring early with a goal in the first few minutes of the first period.
After that, it was all Sheridan.
The Hawks tallied up a total of fifty-four shots on goal in this one versus seventeen from the Irish.
The Hawks scored four goals, including two while on the power play by Jameson Clark.
TJ Wonnacott kept the crease clean for the Hawks; he padded away 16 of the 17 shots on goal and secured the win, 4-1, over the Irish.
The 2 teams met for the second time on Saturday night.
After Sheridan took the first game the night before, they got off to a hot start in this one as well.
Sheridan lit the lamp three times in the first and tallied the first goal of the second period.
Butte would score two goals in this one, but that was no match for the Hawks’ 59 shots on net, which led to 8 total goals for Sheridan.
In the end, the Hawks’ high-powered offense was too much for the Irish, as Sheridan would sweep the weekend and take this one as well, 8-2 over Butte.
Dantae Hunziker put up a hat trick, with two of his goals being short handed.
Netminder Wyatt Knott stopped 28 of 30 shots to garner the win.
