State Wrestling Championships 2025: The Wyoming High School State Wrestling Championships were this past weekend, and the Sheridan County High School teams and individuals added to their trophy case.

The Sheridan girls would bring home the state runner-up trophy.

Becca Oetken would 3-peat as champ and 4 other Lady Broncs finished in the top 6.

The Sheridan boys finished 6th in the overall standings.

Keegan Rager and Kelten Crow both completed undefeated state championship seasons.

Braxten Crow was state runner-up, while 2 other Broncs placed in the top 6.

The Tongue River boys placed 9th in the 2A standings.

Trey Breen was state runner-up in his weight class and 4 other Eagles finished in the top 6.

State Nordic Ski Meet 2025: The Nordic Ski State Meet in Laramie.

Lady Bronc Senior Kayley Alicke won the 10 kilometer freestyle race and was 4th in the 5K classic race.

On the boys side Sean-Kyle Taylor was 6th in the 5K race and 11th in the 10K race.

In the team standings, the Sheridan boys tied for 4th and the girls tied for 7th.

Sheridan HS Basketball: The regular season concluded for Sheridan as both the boys and girls won at Thunder Basin back on Saturday.

Both teams are now preparing for the 4A East Regional Tournament, which will be held inside Storey Gym in Cheyenne.

The Sheridan boys will be the #2 seed and will take on Cheyenne South in the first round, while the girls are seeded #3 and will play Laramie.

Both of those games will be played this coming Thursday and we should get official start times later today.

It’s win and you are in the 4A State Tournament, and you get to play games on Friday and Saturday for seeding purposes.

If you lose on Thursday, the season is over.


Tongue River/Big Horn/Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: The Tongue River girls will return to Casper this weekend to defend their 2A state title.

The Lady Eagles defeated Pine Bluffs in the East Regional Championship game to claim the #1 seed and will play Big Piney this Thursday at 5:30pm.

Joining them will be both teams from Big Horn.

The Lady Rams got the #3 seed and will take on Thermopolis on Thursday at 4pm.

The BH boys earned the #4 seed out of the East, and will play West Champ Wyoming Indian in the first round on Thursday at 8:30pm.

As for the Tongue River boys and the Arvada-Clearmont girls, both teams were eliminated at their respective regional tournaments and their seasons are now over.

Sheridan Troopers Baseball/Sheridan Maverick and Lady Maverick Lacrosse: With the winter sports season winding down, the spring sports season is not far away from starting.

Practice is already underway for the Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball Team.

The season starts on Saturday, April 5th at home vs. Powell.

Practice for the Sheridan Mavericks and Lady Mavericks lacrosse teams start today.

The boys will start their season on April 5th and the girls on April 12th.

As for soccer, outdoor track and field and softball, practice for those sports starts 1 week from today.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks split weekend home games against defending NA3HL Champ Helena, losing on Friday 4-3, and winning on Saturday 2-1.

The team concludes the regular season this coming Friday and Saturday at Rapid City, and need only 1 point in the standings to lock down the #2 seed for the playoffs.

That 1 point can come from either 1 win, or losing 1 game that goes into overtime or shootout.


Sheridan Hawks/Lady Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks boys went 1-2 at the State B Tournament at Cody.

The team won their opening round game vs. Casper 8-2, then lost in the semi-finals vs. Jackson 4-1, and then lost in the consolation round vs. Cody 7-3, to finish the season with a record of 14-6-3.

As for the Sheridan Lady Hawks, their state tournament is this weekend at Pinedale.


University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys lost in their home finale this past Saturday vs. San Diego State 72-69.

It came down to free throws as the Pokes were 11-16 from the charity stripe, but the opposition was a little better shooting 17 of 30.

Obi Agbim led UW with 21 points.

Dantaie Allen contributed with 16 and Matija Belic scored 12 off of the bench.

The Cowboys are now 12-18 on the season with a 5-14 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The team will conclude the regular season tomorrow at Fresno State.

As for the Wyoming Cowgirls, they won Round 2 of the Border War on Saturday at Colorado State 68-55.

The ladies shot 49% from the field and limited the opposition to a little more than 34%.

Malene Pedersen led all scorers with 16 points.

Allyson Fertig had a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds.

McKinley Dickerson contributed with a dozen points of her own and Emily Mellema scored 11.

UW is now 19-10 on the season and have a 13-4 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The Cowgirls conclude the regular season on Wednesday with their home finale vs. 3-time defending conference champ UNLV.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets split road games this past weekend, winning on Friday at Detroit 134-119, but lost yesterday at Boston 110-103.

The Nuggets next play Wednesday at home vs. Sacramento.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won on Friday at home vs. Minnesota 5-2.

The Avs next play tomorrow at home vs. Pittsburgh.


Colorado Rockies Pre-Season Baseball: The Colorado Rockies went 1-2 in games played this past weekend.

On Friday, the team lost at Cleveland 3-1.

Sean Bouchard’s solo home run resulted in the 1.

On Saturday, Colorado lost at Arizona 8-4, and then won yesterday at home vs. Seattle 6-1.

The Rocks next play today at the LA Angels, starting at 1:10pm.
