The Sheridan Hawks are trying to make the most of their 10-game homestand in order to make a push towards the postseason.
This past weekend the team swept a 2-game home series vs. Gillette, winning by scores of 7-4 and 6-4.
The top 4 teams in the NA3HL’s Frontier Division qualify for the playoffs and with a little less than 2 months to go before the postseason, the Hawks are sitting in 2nd place.
Bozeman would be the first team out, and Sheridan Head Coach J.J. Santagata says the Icedogs are like Butte, who was in town 2 weeks ago.
He adds the opposition is trying to play their way in and that presents its own challenges.
“I would say they’re similar to Butte, but probably just a little bit better defensively. They have very solid goaltending, all 2 or 3 goalies that they have right now and they also are a pretty good offensive team, so just a well rounded team that plays a good disciplined structured game, so it’s going to be a similar game to how we play them against Butte, but probably a good game that we’re going have to play a 60 minute effort. We can’t shifts off, can’t take minutes off, can’t take periods off, so we just have to come out at the start of the game and just finish strong.”
The puck drops on both Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm.
The Hawks will be without their second leading scorer Vincent Leaf, because earlier this week, he was called up to play for Anchorage.
