Sheridan College Rodeo: The Sheridan College Rodeo team was back in the saddle this past weekend, competing at the Central Wyoming College event in Riverton.
Maci Dehaan placed 10th in the average in breakaway roping.
Jake Schlattmann scored a 71 and a 68 in the bareback riding, which put him in 4th place for the weekend and he is currently 5th in the Central Rocky Mountain Region Standings.
Aidan Ruby scored a 76 on one of his bull rides, which was good for 4th place and he’s 4th in the region.
This weekend, Sheridan College will host the Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.
Performances start at 6pm on Friday and Saturday and the championship short-go is at 10am on Sunday.
Slack starts at 12-noon on Friday and at 9am Saturday.
Tongue River’s Easton Lewis Finishes 2nd At 2A State Golf Meet: The 2024 Wyoming High School Golf season ended this past weekend.
At the 2A State Meet at Kendrick Golf Course, Tongue River sophomore Easton Lewis finished tied for 2nd in the boys individual competition, and was only 1 stroke behind the winner.
He says he’s pleased with how the season went and adds he knows what he needs to work on.
Lewis says he’s been golfing for about 7-8 years and placed 7th at last year’s state meet.
Lyla Marney Of Big Horn Getting Cross Country Attention: This past weekend was the Michelle Ludwig Invitational at the Sheridan VA Hospital.
Lyla Marney of Big Horn easily won the girls race and the freshman has been getting some attention as of late.
In the first race of the season at Cheyenne, she placed 3rd out of more than 170 runners.
Marney says that was a good test that put her experience up against some of the best in the state.
Her next race is this coming Saturday at the Mountain West Cross Country Classic, which is being held in Missoula, Montana.
University of Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball: Last week the Wyoming Cowboys released their schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Recently the Cowgirls released their schedule.
The Brown and Gold will host an exhibition game vs. Chadron State on Friday, November 1st and the regular season will start on Monday, November 4th at home vs. Colorado.
UW also has non-conference home games vs. BYU and Gonzaga and will participate in a round robin tournament in San Juan Puerto Rico on Thanksgiving weekend.
The first Mountain West Conference Game is on New Years’ Day 2025 at home vs. Utah State.
Defending conference champion UNLV will visit Laramie on Tuesday, March 4th which is also the regular season finale.

Mountain West Conference Sports: There’s been another shakeup in the Mountain West Conference.
Last week the big news was announced that Colorado State, Boise State, Fresno State and San Diego State were leaving the conference to join the PAC 12 beginning with the 2026 football season.
Yesterday, Utah State announced that it is getting on board as well.
On top of that, UNLV originally said that the school was staying in the Mountain West Conference, provided no other members left, but that was before the Utah State announcement was made.
Now the future for the Runnin’ Rebels is up in the air.
It was also reported last week that the American Athletic Conference may have been targeting Air Force, but the Academy has released a statement saying the Falcons are not going anywhere.
Colorado Rockies Baseball/Charlie Blackmon Announces Retirement: The Colorado Rockies were off yesterday and will start a 3-game series at home vs. St. Louis today.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.
This week is the last week of the regular season, and it’s the last week for outfielder Charlie Blackmon who announced his retirement yesterday.
He spent all 14 seasons of his Major League career with the Rocks and is the teams’ all-time leader in triples with 67.
Blackmon is also 2nd in Colorado history in games played, runs scored, hits, doubles, extra base hits and total bases.
In 2017 he won the National League batting title with a .331 average and is also a 4-time All-Star and a 2-time Silver Slugger.
Colorado Avalanche Pre-Season Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost their pre-season opener last night at home vs. Dallas 3-2.
The team plays their next pre-season game this coming Friday at Dallas.
