Sheridan HS Track and Field: The 2024 Wyoming High School Outdoor Track and Field State Meet is less than one month away and as it stands right now, Sheridan would have 2 of the best in the state on the girls side in their respective event.

The first one should be obvious…that would be Stanford bound senior Addie Pendergast who this past Saturday, ran the 400 meter dash in 56.58 seconds.

That is tops in the state in all classes, and she’s in contention for the 4A State title in both the 100 and 200 meter dash races as well.

This year she did not compete in Indoor Track and Field, and instead played basketball during the winter season.

Once the outdoor track and field season started, she took the first weekend off as she was still recovering from the basketball season.

She says it didn’t take that long to readjust and she’s been having fun ever since.

The other Lady Bronc that’s tops in the state is Lilly Charest in the pole vault.

The Sheridan boys and girls track and field teams are scheduled to compete today at a meet at Gillette.

Sheridan HS Soccer: Sheridan takes on Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East this Friday and Saturday.

The boys will play at home and the girls will play on the road.

In the boys game, Central is undefeated, while the Broncs are currently in 2nd place in the 4A East.

If the Indians win or tie Friday night’s game, they would secure the #1 seed for the upcoming regional tournament.

Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers are scheduled to play a 9-inning non-conference game on Thursday at Gillette, beginning at 5pm.

The team will return home this Saturday and Sunday for a pair of triangle meets.

On Saturday, the Troopers will play the Casper Oilers in a non-conference game starting at 11am.

At 5pm they will take on the Billings Scarlets.

On Sunday, Sheridan will play the Billings Royals at 10am, and play Casper again at 4pm.

Denver Broncos Football: The NFL draft is scheduled to take place this coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and the Denver Broncos made a little bit of a move.

The team traded away their 6th round pick to the New York Jets in return for quarterback Zach Wilson and a 7th round pick.

The move will not impact the salary cap much for Denver, because the Jets will be paying part of Wilson’s $5.5 million salary this upcoming season.

Wilson played his college ball at BYU and was the #2 pick in the draft 3 years ago, but since then he is 12-21 as a starter.

Denver has 9 picks in the upcoming NFL draft, including #12 in the first round, but they will not have a 2nd round selection.

The team traded that pick last year to New Orleans, in order to acquire head coach Sean Payton.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies fell to 5-18 on the season, after losing last night at home vs. San Diego 3-1.

A horrific statistic was recently revealed about the Rocks.

In all 23 games that they’ve played this season, the team at one point or another, has trailed in all of them.

The last time that happened was back in 1931.

Game 2 of the 4 game series vs. the Padres is today beginning at 6:40pm.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: Last night the Denver Nuggets trailed by 20 points early in the 3rd quarter at home vs. the LA Lakers in Game 2 of their best of 7 first round series.

The team came all the way back, and then Jamal Murray hit a fadeaway at the buzzer, to give the Nuggets a 101-99 win and take 2-0 lead in the series.

Game 3 is Thursday at LA.

Other playoff scores from yesterday, Cleveland beat Orlando 96-86 to take a 2-0 lead in their series, and New York topped Philadelphia 104-101 to go up 2-0 as well.

NHL Playoffs: Last night Toronto beat Boston 3-2, to tie up their series at 1 game each.

Carolina was trailing 3-2 with less than 2 ½ minutes to go against the New York Islanders, then scored twice in 9 seconds and ended up winning 5-3 to go up 2-0 in their series.

Las Vegas surprised west top seed Dallas 4-3 in Game 1, and Edmonton took game 1 against Los Angeles 7-4.

The Colorado Avalanche play today in Game 2 of their best of 7 series at Winnipeg, trailing the series 1-0.
