Garwin Maurer
Garwin “Gar” Maurer, resident of Sheridan, WY, formerly of West Fargo, ND, passed away on October 30, 2025, at home at the age of 71 years.
Garwin Maurer was born in Fargo, ND and moved to Sheridan, WY in 1979. He became a proud father to Mandy in 1978 and to Travis in 1980. In1981, Gar met the love of his life, Kim, and the two were married on May 18, 1984. Gar dedicated 46 years of his life to working at NAPA where he became affectionately known as “Mr. NAPA”. His deep knowledge, steady reliability, and warm personality made him a friend to countless coworkers and customers alike. Outside of work Gar loved life on the open road. He enjoyed riding his Harley, watching NASCAR races, and cheering on his favorite NFL teams such as the Minnesota Vikings. Whether he was talking cars, racing, or football, his enthusiasm was contagious. Gar was known for his kindness, helpfulness, and easy-going spirit. He had a special way of making everyone he met feel valued and cared for. His legacy of hard work, love, and generosity will continue to live on through his family, friends, and the community he served so faithfully. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Kimberely Higgins Maurer; his children Travis Maurer and Mandy Maurer; his grandchildren Halley Schnettgoechke Duba, Clay Schnettgoechke, Blake Maurer, Jake Maurer, Ian Maurer, and Raelynn Maurer; along with his great-grandchildren Amelia Faye Duba and Marshall Hayes Duba. Gar will also be missed by his siblings Glenda Jacobson, Twila and Erik Aslesen, Cindy and Arnie Ostgarden, sister-in-law Mary Louise and James Miller, brother-in-law Chris Bassett, sister-in-law Tracey Andrews, brother-in-law Robert Higgins; and many others including his 15 nieces and nephews.
Garwin was preceded in death by his mother Jeannine Maurer, his father Glen Maurer, sister-in-law Kathye Fouberg, brother-in-law Ron Fouberg, brother-in-law John Joseph Higgins III, sister-in-law Cheryl Bassett, mother-in-law Catherine Higgins, father-in-law John Joseph Higgins II, as well as a nephew.
