Valentine Hyjek
Funeral services for Val Hyjek, 77-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Saturday morning at the Johnson County Health Care Center, surrounded by family, was held on Wednesday, March 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor Bernie Chavez Jr. officiating. Valentine Michael Hyjek was born on September 24, 1942, in Cornwall, New York to Joseph and Eleanor Hyjek. He grew up in New York and graduated from Washingtonville High School with the class of 1960. After high school, he entered a Journeyman Electrician program and later worked as a licensed electrician. He was married on January 19, 1962, in Chester New York to Brenda Wilson and they made their home in Washingtonville. In 1975 they moved to Buffalo, Wyoming and Val worked as an electrician for various power plants around the state.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. His passion was spending time with his family, especially in the Big Horns. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Brenda Hyjek of Buffalo; two daughters, Patricia Hyjek of Sheridan and Tammy Stokley and her husband Tim of Denver, Colorado; one son Valentine M. Hyjek II of San Jose, California; one sister Mary Ann Hyjek of New York; four grandchildren, Veronique, Jessica, Meghan and Kellicia; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
