JCSD1 Superintendent Discusses Kaycee School, Legislation

Johnson County School District #1 Superintendent Charles Auzqui, in his video report for February, said it has been busy but going well.
Preparing for state assessments and the next school year are current priorities.
Auzqui said the Kaycee School reconstruction project is waiting on materials.
The project stems from the school suffering a broken sprinkler system resulting in damage to two classrooms, and discovering a problem with their boiler system back in January.
He said the State Fire Marshal and the School Finance Department are very supportive of the process, and doing everything they can so the school remains open.
Auzqui said there are two bills in particular he will be watching in the legislative session.
The second bill is Senate File 32 (SF0032) which is the K-3 reading assessment and intervention program, which Auzqui said the administration will be watching as well to see how that may impact the district.
