During this week’s meeting, the Sheridan County Commission ratified the findings and their decision on the Sheridan Solar,LLC proposal for a solar energy facility.

The commission voted last month to deny the permit for the 96-acre facility proposed to be built on a 163-acre parcel between Sheridan and Big Horn off of Swaim Road.

The commission’s findings that led to the denial of the permit were that the application did not provide evidence of adequate legal access for the proposed facility as required by state statute; and that the application proposed to locate the facility less than 200 feet from a public road right-of-way in an agricultural zone in violation of state statute and county regulations; and finally that the application did not meet the standards set forth in state statutes.

I would like to thank the Sheridan County Commissioners for their listening to their constituents and voting the right way on this critical issue.
