Tickets Still Available for Full Moon Fort – Wagon Rides

On October 31, 1866, Fort Phil Kearny was completed, and a celebration was held by the soldiers at the fort. So, what better time to learn about Fort Phil Kearny’s darker stories than at the annual Full Moon Fort, which usually happens around Halloween. This year the outdoor event will be held September 25 and 26, as late October in Wyoming is often very chilly.

Advanced tickets are required and tickets are still available for all time slots, 7:30, 8:15 and 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person, children under 12 and under are free but must be accompanied by an adult.

This year’s event will be a little different from the previous years, instead of walking around the fort grounds to various stations, there will be seating for the guests, and the actors will be on stage. This is a seated outdoor event, so dress for chilly weather.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time and check in at the Fort Phil Kearny Interpretive Center. Advanced tickets are required for the event. The 7:30 time is more for families and youngsters, and the darker stories are told at the later times.

Tickets are still available for the Moon Hitch Wagon Rides at the Fort, which will be held on Oct. 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11. Except for Oct. 2, which will be at 4:45, all tours began at 5 p.m. Rides are approximately an hour, and participants get to see more of the area around the fort from the seat of a covered wagon. Knowledgeable guides will talk about some of the fort’s history during the ride. Space is limited so advanced tickets are required.
