Following Monday’s State of the State address by Governor Mark Gordon before a Joint Session of the State Legislature, Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice Lynne Boomgaarden delivered the State of the Judiciary address.

Boomgaarden said historically, Wyoming’s three branches of government have worked well together.

Towards the end of her address, Boomgaarden said that she would feel cowardly and complicit if at this point, she didn’t address an uncomfortable reality.

Boomgaarden said that jobs that require making tough decisions invite criticism, but that our Founding Fathers understood that anything less than mutual respect for each branch’s decision making roles, and the defense of those constitutional roles in the face of uninformed, or worse, spiteful detractors, will in the end hurt those who choose to live and work in Wyoming.
