The 2025 8-week Wyoming Legislative General Session is near the halfway point and although State lawmakers have gone through as many House bills and Senate files as they can, time has run out on some of them.
In total there were 93 House bills, and two House Joint Resolutions that died, because they were never brought up for introduction within its house of origin.
The deadline in the Senate was the middle of last week, while the House deadline was on Monday, February 3rd.
Among the bills that died included House Bill 37, which would allow a school board to expel a student from a public school for more than 1 year, if that student was in possession of a deadly weapon.
House Bill 57 would have prohibited counties and municipalities from prohibiting or regulating the use or possession of fireworks on the 4th of July and allow possession and use of 4th of July fireworks in state parks and campgrounds.
House Bill 78 would have created a grant program for safe haven providers to purchase newborn safety devices.
House Bill 99 would have allowed public land corner crossing.
House Bill 163 would have prohibited the employment of unauthorized aliens.
House Bill 267 would have legalized the regulation, manufacture and distribution of marijuana.
House Bill 326 would have provided funding to the state construction department to remodel the Veterans Home outside of Buffalo.
House Joint Resolution 6 would have amended the Wyoming Constitution, so that judges could be elected and repeal the current selection and retention process.
This week the Wyoming Legislature is discussing the supplemental budget bill.
Bills that are still alive must pass their 3rd and final reading from their house of origin, on or before Wednesday, February 12th.
