Aaron PalmerDuring the Sheridan County Commission’s meeting Tuesday morning, Commissioner Christi Haswell read a prepared statement concerning her arrest earlier this year for driving while under the influence and hit and run.
John Wilcox spoke to Haswell about the incident.
Haswell responded, saying her last drink was in April of this year.
Wilcox said he “wished her all the luck in the world.”
According to police report from April of this year, officers responded to a DUI REDDI report, which led to the arrest of Haswell for driving while under the influence and hit and run.
Cowboy State Daily reported this week that Haswell pleaded guilty to drunk driving and will serve eight days in jail, pay the maximum fine allowed as well as restitution, and serve a year of unsupervised probation.

Also:
-Are you aware of your ethical responsibilities as a public official?
-Do you think this is a proper role-model for our youth?
-Does your behavior reflect well on Sheridan’s Public Image?
-Why did it take you so long to admit your guilt?
-Why did it take you so long to apologize to the good citizens of Sheridan County?
-Will this be an issue if you ever run again?
-Can you conduct the people’s business from jail?
-Why not do the right thing and resign, so we can put this behind us.
-Is holding on to political office so dear, that you’d sacrifice the good working order and reputation of the Board?

I think you are blowing this out of proportion. There was only an inanimate object harmed in this, and she will be paying restitution for that inanimate object. Contrary to what the the nonsense legalese document of probable cause will tell you, this offense was not committed “against the dignity of the state of Wyoming,” but a car or a masonry structure of some type. Remember Bill Novotny down in our neighboring county to the south was driving the wrong way down the interstate all liquored up and he got re-elected!! No one really cares other than the people who are paid to prosecute such offenses. One last parting word, before you say she could have injured someone or worse… she could have and she shouldn’t drive drunk. But statistics prove that alcohol is NOT the causing factor in the majority of fatality crashes. Are we desperately searching and trying to find an answer to what causes the majority of fatality crashes?

Sheridan County, where at least our drunk driving, hit-and-run commissioners are driving on the right side of the road.

This is rich. Time and time again you Mr. Fox have supported Donald Trump (both on this platform and in letters to the editor). I remind you Mr. Trump is a convicted rapist, a convicted felon, and a convicted scam artist (just ask the Trump University attendees). Seems like you pick and choose the traits you want from a politician have some standards man!

You must be confused, sir. Don’t recall ever commenting on our real President. I tend to stick to local issues, like lower taxes and less gov’t waste.
BTW, did you know you can lower the tax rate, just by voting this November?
Lower Taxes Are Always Better!

We should not descend into the depravity of Johnson County. We should hold our public servants in Sheridan County to a higher standard.
Trying to defend her actions is a lost cause. And it’s her failure to immediately come forward, take responsibility and apologize, that is so troubling.
It’s still not to late for her to save her legacy and do the right thing.

Wow. The crap is flying in this “discussion”. Are you guys day drinking? The possibly seems topical. The rest of us are surprised to hear that Johnson County is a hotbed of depravity! I’m not sure you could get assessment polling an Amish AA meeting. I was also surprised to hear Trump was a “convicted rapist”. I’m fairly certain that comes with a significant prison sentence and some sex offender registration obligations. Might want to fact check a few of those things. He is a convicted felon at this point, so that much was true. As far as hanging people from the yard arm for poor decision making, I like to look in the mirror first. I’d rather we save our banishments and public hangings for the real threats to society.

I fail to see any connection to our former and future president. Guess TDS shows up even here in deep red Wyo.
This story was about a responsible citizen questioning the lack of responsible behavior of a, still in office, commissioner. In fact, she broke the law, drove while smashed and then crashed into a car and building.
Then fled the scene like a common criminal!
Waiting 5 months to admit her guilt and offer the public a feeble apology.
The word is: inexcusable.
If she were in the military, she’d be long gone for “conduct unbecoming.”
Libs will, indeed, hold on to political office at all costs. Including their dignity and the well-being of our community.
