Aaron PalmerSheridan County Commissioner Christi Haswell, during the commission’s regular meeting Tuesday morning, addressed her constituents concerning her arrest earlier this year for driving while under the influence (DWUI) and hit and run.
She read a statement into the record.
Some comments from the public were made regarding her statement, and we will have that in a future story.
According to the Sheridan Police Department report for April 10, officers responded to a DUI REDDI report at approximately 9:29 p.m., leading to the arrest of Haswell for driving while under the influence and hit and run.
According to a report from Cowboy State Daily, Haswell has pleaded guilty to drunk driving. She will serve eight days in jail as part of a plea agreement, and must pay the maximum fine allowed as well as restitution, and serve a year of unsupervised probation.

It took her five months to admit her guilt and apologize to us. Is that the type of role-model we want?
Endanger public safety by drunk driving, destroy the property of other citizens, then flee the scene.
And don’t admit it or offer any explanation/apology for almost half a year.
Where have our standards gone, for elected public servants.
She should do the right thing and resign.
And we should never allow her to hold public office again.

Almost 6 months later? Nah, resign with what little dignity you have left. Forget the jail time, how about a suspended license for a year?

She may have personal issues as well. I wish her the very best in identifying and resolving those issues. She made a mistake but needs to move forward.

A “mistake”? This was a flagrant disregard for the safety and well-being of every citizen in Sheridan County. A “mistake” can be forgiven, this was a violation of her oath of office, to abide by the law. Drunk driving and hit and run are serious crimes.
And then she denied her crimes and failed to apologize for almost half a year!
Guess the previous Lawlessness that she presided over, when the Board failed to fill the vacancy, is finally catching up to her. They say Karma is a b****.

There’s a significant difference between “making a mistake” and “endangering people’s lives and breaking the law.”
I wish her well, too. And think she should take some time off and resolve her issues.
