Aaron PalmerApplications for funding from the Sheridan County General Purpose Excise Tax are now being taken through Friday, May 3.
According to a release from the Sheridan County Board of Commissioners, they are encouraging qualified organizations to request funding for FY2024-25.
Application forms and instructions are available at https://www.sheridancountywy.gov/news_detail_T10_R71.php
According to an earlier Sheridan Media story, the General Purpose Excise Tax, formerly known as the One-Cent Optional Sales Tax, is the one-cent sales tax that is levied on sales with the exception of food. The money raised from the GPET goes to pay for projects that may not otherwise be funded by local governments.

How about a refund to every taxpayer in Sheridan County? Especially property owners who are being crushed by 20 to 50% annual tax hikes.
Since we supplied the millions of dollars sitting in gov’t coffers, how about a little refund in these tough economic times?
The “Failed Four” Sheridan county commissioners have never met a tax they didn’t like…or want to hike.
