cvannoyThe Sheridan WYO Rodeo Parade was held on July 14, and due to the construction on Main Street, the parade route was shifted to N. Brooks Street, and the annual pancake breakfast, served by the Boy Scouts, was held on Alger Street between Whitney Commons and the library.
Most people were flexible and many liked the idea, and David Rasmussen, who has been attending the parade for about 20 years, had this to say about the new route.
He added that there have been a lot more people coming to the parade over the years, and that also presented a challenge, but he felt that the organizers did a ‘great job’ planning the parade.
Several generations of Sheridan residents enjoy the WYO Parade. Three generations attended the parade today on it’s new route. Rose Marie Buckley moved here with her parents when she was ‘in a receiving blanket,’ and has been attending the WYO parade for over 80 years. She felt the new route was nice as there was some grass and some shade trees.
Her daughter, Tammy Morales, who was born and raised here in Sheridan, had this to say
Tammy’s daughter, Avery, said she wanted to see the ‘Shark’ which is the ‘Shark’ snowplow that her step-father drives for the highway department.
Five-year-old Josey Sandin was hoping for some candy to be thrown along the route, and she even had a sack ready to carry it home.
After the parade, Chris Williams, scout master of troop 117, talked about the new location for the pancake breakfast and how it worked out for them this year.
He wasn’t sure if they would continue to have the breakfast at Whitney Commons next year or not.
Overall, he felt that the numbers of participants were down somewhat from last year for the breakfast.
The parade was well attended, and there were several horse entries, the Crow Dancers from Montana, and several musical bands for parade goers to enjoy.

I really liked the less congested feel of the parade this year. Lots more shade for bystanders and really well organized for participants.
