Sheridan And Johnson County Unemployment Rates Increase In December 2022

For the first time in a while, the unemployment rate in Wyoming is higher than the national average, but the Wyoming numbers didn’t change much in December.

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the statewide unemployment rate increased from 3.6% in November 2022 to 3.7% in December.

It was 4.0% in December of 2021.

The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for December 2022 was at 3.5%, which is down from 3.6% from November, and down from 3.9% in December 2021.

Sheridan County’s unemployment rate for December was at 3.4%, which is up from 2.9% in November.

Johnson County’s rate for December was at 3.5%, and that is up from 3.1% in November.

The December 2021 rates for both Sheridan and Johnson Counties was at 3.0% and 3.2% respectively.

Most counties in Wyoming had their December 2022 unemployment rates increase from the previous year.

Weston and Teton Counties had the lowest unemployment rate in Wyoming in December 2022 at 2.4%, while Sweetwater County had the highest rate at 4.2%.

Nonfarm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 5,500 jobs from December 2021 to December 2022.
