Wyoming Employment Numbers Recovering From Covid Pandemic

While job availability and unemployment rates are near to where they were before the covid pandemic started, the number of people actually working in Wyoming is not, but that number may be rebounding.
According to the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, from fourth quarter 2020 to fourth quarter 2021, Wyoming added more than 7,000 jobs and payroll was up by more than $382-million.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2019, or before the start of the pandemic, those numbers are down nearly 9,300.
Between the fourth quarter of 2020, to the fourth quarter of 2021, Sheridan County’s average monthly employment numbers were up by 328, while Johnson County was up by 114.
Total wages in Sheridan County was up more than $19-million, while Johnson County was up almost $3.35-million.
Sheridan County’s gains were largely due to an increase of jobs in manufacturing, professional and technical services, accommodation and food services, management of companies and enterprises and retail trade.
The Wyoming DWS says state-wide, the largest job growth percentage wise was in leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, construction and mining.
The biggest losses were in health care and social assistance, as well as local, state and federal government.
