The Sheridan Hawks split their weekend home series vs. Great Falls, losing on Friday 4-2, and winning on Saturday 3-zip.

As a result, both teams remain tied for 3rd and 4th place in the NA3HL’s Frontier Division with less than one month to go in the regular season.

Hawks Head Coach J.J. Santagata says a few bad breaks happened on Friday, but the players did not lose their vision as to what was at stake and the team still controls its own destiny in terms of trying to get the #2 seed for the postseason.

“We generated a ton of chances Friday night. We outshot them, I think we played a sound game Friday night, 3 mistakes, just bad mistakes ended up in the back of our net, so we just talk about cleaning up simple things. We just can’t be doing dumb things that are going to lead to turnovers, lead to chances for them, so I think Friday night we just were a little more urgent, we knew the magnitude of the game, we’re down in the series at that point, we’re down in points, so winning that game puts us tied for the season series and then just give us an opportunity to just do our job here for the rest of the season.”

Sheridan controls the tie-breaker vs. Great Falls due to better goal differential on the season.

The Hawks hit the road for the first time since December this weekend, for a 2-game series at Gillette and will try to sweep the season series from their rivals.
