Aaron PalmerJohnson County Commissioner Bill Novotny spoke on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program Wednesday and discussed how a name was recently added to the Veterans Memorial Wall on the corner of Fort and Main Streets in Buffalo.
United States Marine Cpl. Seth D. Rasmuson was one of five U.S. Marines killed during a training mission in 2022, and his name was added to the memorial wall in time for Memorial Day Services this past month.
Novotny explained that Rasmuson’s name was the first added in some time, and it took the passage of a resolution by the county commission to do.
Novotny said adding Rasmuson’s name to the wall is a stark reminder of the reality of sacrifice.
Novotny added, “it’s one of those somber things that you hope as a commissioner that you never have to do.”
