In spite of Old Man’s Winter attempts to create havoc on the weekend, the Sheridan High School Boys and Girls wrestling teams, each won team trophies at the 2023 Wyoming High School State Wrestling Meet in Casper.
Nine boys wrestlers made it the championship match of their respective weight class, winning 3 of the 9, plus the Broncs had 1 wrestler finish in 3rd, 1 in 4th and 1 in 5th, to help the team win their second 4A state championship in school history (the other was in 1990).
State champions were Dane Steel (152 pounds), Kelten Crow (160 pounds), and Colson Coon (182 pounds).
Runners-up were Kolten Powers (120 pounds), Landon Wood (126 pounds), Keegan Rager (132 pounds), Dylan Goss (138 pounds), Terran Grooms (170 pounds), and Aiden Selcher (220 pounds).
Cody Dunham and River Osborne placed 3rd and 4th respectively at 113 pounds, and Cache Wood was 5th at 106 pounds.
For the Tongue River boys, Carter Maslowski placed 6th at 132 pounds, Aidan Collingwood was 4th at 138 pounds, and AJ Moline was 6th at 170 pounds.
TR placed 15th out of 21 teams in Class 2A.

In the inaugural season of girls varsity wrestling, the Sheridan Lady Broncs placed 3rd overall.
Competing in the 235 pound weight class, sophomore Becca Oetken pinned her way through the competition, to win the state championship.
She had been competing in the 190 pound weight class before the state tournament, but decided to move up so that her team could get more points.
Paityn Covolo placed 4th at 135 pounds, Trinity Peterson was 6th at 140 pounds, Bridgette Price was 4th at 170 pounds, and Kylah Pleines was 5th at 190 pounds.
For Buffalo, Teila Peters put together a 37-1 campaign to win the state championship at 130 pounds
