Junior Austin Akers ran away from the pack, winning the boys race by almost 25 seconds at the 2021 Casper Invitational, held at Beartrap Meadow.

Akers turned in a season opening time of 17 minutes 34.41 seconds, after placing 5th at last year’s state meet.

Team-wise, Sheridan had to settle for 3rd, behind Natrona County and Laramie.

For the girls, junior Abby Newton was the highest Lady Bronc finisher at 5th, with a time for 21:28.99.

That would help the team finish 2nd, by 5 points behind Natrona County.

The next scheduled cross-country meet for Sheridan is at Spearfish, South Dakota on Friday, September 3rd.
