Sheridan Mavericks Lacrosse: The Sheridan Mavericks lacrosse team will play their lone home games of the season this weekend.
The team is scheduled to host Cody at 7pm today, and Missoula, Montana tomorrow at 9am at the old Normative Services facility
The Mavericks are off to an 0-4 start so far, partially due to injuries and other commitments.
Head Coach J.R. Wright says some of those players are returning this week, which is good since the boys are going up against the only other Wyoming team in the Montana Lacrosse League.
Cody is last year’s Montana lacrosse state runners-up, beat the Mavs in Sheridan this time last year, beat them again in the first round of the state tournament, and 2 weeks ago.
Coach Wright says Sheridan and Cody don’t rival or play much in other sports, but the Mavericks are motivated.
For those wondering where the old Normative Services facility is, it’s on West Loucks Street on your left, past the golf course.
As for the Sheridan Lady Mavericks, they will play in Helena, Montana tomorrow at 12-noon vs. Missoula and at 3pm vs. Bozeman.
There will be a few other Montana boys lacrosse teams in Sheridan as well.
Today at 7pm Billings and Bozeman will play at Dan Madia Field located on West 11th Street.
Tomorrow, several games will be played at both the old NSI facility and at Blacktooth Park, located on West 5th Street.
Between 12:30 and 2:30pm, the Montana State club team will be conducting a free youth clinic at the old NSI field.
At 4pm tomorrow, it’s club level college lacrosse between Montana State and the University of Wyoming.
Alexa Miller Of Sheridan HS To Run Track at George Fox Univ.: A Sheridan High School long distance track runner will continue running at the collegiate level.
Alexa Miller has signed a written offer of athletic aid to compete at George Fox University, which is an NCAA Division III Christian University, located in Newberg, Oregon, about 25 miles southwest of Portland.
Miller currently competes for the Sheridan HS Track and Field team in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter races.
Most collegiate teams tend to reach out to recruits first, but Miller says it was the other way around for her, and explains how she knew about George Fox University.
Miller adds she intends to major in Kinesiology.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers are scheduled to play a home double-header tomorrow vs. Lovell.
Games times are at 1 and 3pm.
You can watch a LIVE video stream of the games at sheridanmedia.com, and hear the LIVE radio play-by-play on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.
