Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: This past Memorial Day Weekend, the Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team stepped up their game, by winning 4 out of 5 at a round robin tournament at Gillette.

The teams dropped the first game against Bozeman, Montana, then won out by beating Jackson, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Powell and the host team.

Coach Austin Cowen says before this past weekend he told his players to stop messing around.

The Troopers are back in action tomorrow at another tournament, this time in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Sheridan will play Laramie tomorrow at 4:30pm.

On Friday the team will play Harrisburg, South Dakota, and Rapid City Post 320, back-to-back starting at 2pm.

On Saturday, it’s one game vs. the Rapid City Expos at 7:30am.

Sunday’s opponent is to be announced.


Wyoming Shrine Bowl Football Game: Practice for the annual Shrine Bowl Football Game starts this Saturday in Casper.

The annual All-Star game between the North and the South also serves as a fundraiser for the Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Eleven players from North-Central Wyoming will play for the North team.

That includes 4 from Sheridan, 3 from Big Horn, 1 from Tongue River and 3 from Buffalo.

The game will be played on Saturday, June 8th at Natrona County High School.


University Of Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball: The Wyoming Cowgirls have extended the contract of Coach Heather Ezell through the 2028-29 season.

In her first two seasons leading the Cowgirls, Ezell has compiled 41 victories and led Wyoming to back-to-back trips to the WNIT.

UW has been 24-12 in Mountain West play under Ezell, finishing in second and third place, respectively in the league. 

The 23 wins by UW in 2022-23, are a program record for the most wins by a first-year head coach.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost a slugfest last night at home vs. Cleveland, 13-7.

Kris Bryant and Elehuris Montero each hit a 2-run home run for the cause, but it was not enough.

The Rocks will try to win the rubber game of the 3-game series today, starting at 6:40pm.

After that the team is off tomorrow and will start a stretch where they will play 10 of the next 13 games on the road.


NBA Playoffs: The Minnesota Timberwolves survived elimination, by winning Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals last night at Dallas, 105-100.

The Mavericks still lead the series 3-1.

Game 5 is tomorrow at Minnesota.


NHL Playoffs: Last night Florida needed 1 minute and 12 seconds of overtime to win Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals at home vs. the New York Rangers 3-2.

The series is tied at 2.

Tonight is Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, between Dallas at Edmonton, starting at 6:30.

The Stars currently lead the series 2-1.
