Philip Charles Kane was born May 13, 1952, to Charles Philip Kane and Arlene Helen (Schmitz) Kane. Phil passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital surrounded by his entire family.
Phil was the oldest of 5 children and attended Wolf School through eighth grade. He graduated from Sheridan High School where he participated in football and rodeo. He went on to play football at Rocky Mountain College for a time before moving back to work on the family ranch. He had two children by his first marriage, Katie and Kevin. They were his absolute pride and joy. Later, Phil met the love of his life, Ranelle Johnson. They were married on May 26, 1989, at Wolf where they spent the next 31 years. This marriage gave Phil 4 more kids to love. And love them he did.
Phil is preceded in death by his father, Chas Kane, Aunt Karolyn Gainan, Uncle Kenneth Kane, and step-daughter, Amy Ross, and her husband Derrick. He is survived by his wife Ranelle, mother Arlene Kane, daughter Katie (Greg) Keeley, son Kevin (Kristin) Kane, step-son Matt Lopez, stepdaughters Lindy (Jeremy) Nielsen, and Katie (Brent) Carpenter, and his lovable mutts Scout and Bella. His truest joy was his grandchildren Charles and Benjamin Kane, Adri, Miranda, Rhodes, and Wells Lopez, Hollis and Dorothy Nielsen, and Malcolm, Sullivan, and Jones Carpenter. He loved and will be missed by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Lisa (Kelly) Cole, and brothers John (Janice), Mike (Carol), and David (Terri) Kane.
The family would like to recognize and thank the exceptional medical staff at the Welch Cancer Center. An outdoor Celebration of Life service in view of the beautiful mountains will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Kane Funeral Home at 10:00am with Father Glenn Whewell officiating.

Ranelle and kids, I grew up knowing Phil thru our neighbors Gigi and Don Hendrickson,
I had Phil in several of my classes in High School. Several times we would go out to the ranch and watch Phil practice getting bucked off or Roping. My true love was ranching and rodeoing and watching them since the fairgrounds was right behind us. Phil was always kind of shy in high school but not at the Ranch. We always had fun riding horses or catching boxelder bugs or Roaming around the Ranch. He was like a brother to me and a great friend. Debbie( Brown) Weingardt.
