Lois Collins
Graveside Funeral Services for Lois Collins, 72-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Thursday, August 21st at 2:00 p.m. in Willow Grove Cemetery with Pastor Paul Gilbert officiating. Donations in Lois’s memory may be made to the Big Horn Baptist Church at 1400 Fort Street in Buffalo, Wyoming. Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com.
Lois Ann Collins was born on April 6, 1953, in Helena, Montana to Clifford and Lucy Lamping. She grew up and went to school in Helena and attended Helena High School. After high school she was a dispatcher for the Helena Police Department where she met Ed Foust. Ed and Lois were married on January 30, 1971, in East Helena, and they made their home in East Helena, where they started their family. Heidi was born in 1971 and Eddie in 1975. In 1980, they moved to Buffalo, where she worked for the Johnson County Library. Ed and Lois were divorced in 1985. In 1986, she met her partner Doug Collins, and they were married on September 16th, 2000, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on the Elk Refuge. Doug and Lois made their home in Buffalo, where she worked at the Veteran’s Home of Wyoming. In 2001, they moved to Sheridan and Lois worked at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital as a medical records specialist. Lois retired in 2012 and in 2023 they moved back to Buffalo, where she lived until her death.
Lois enjoyed knitting and quilting. She was an excellent cook and loved hunting and fishing and the great outdoors. She also enjoyed horseback riding and riding motorcycles. She is survived by her husband Doug Collins of Buffalo; one son Eddie Foust and his partner Gena of Buffalo; two brothers Phillip Lamping and his wife Terry and Jerry Lamping and his wife Kathy all of East Helena, Montana; two grandchildren Cadance and Ivy Foust and her loyal dog Cody. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lucy Lamping, her daughter Heidi, two sisters Mary Shamely and Linda Reed and one brother Tom Lamping.
