Michael Dale Schutt Sr., 62, from Sheridan, WY, passed away in a motorcycle accident in Cozad, NE, on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Born on July 24, 1962, Mick was a force of nature: a free spirit, a jokester, and was the kind of guy who could—and often would—break into impressions or silly voices at any moment, leaving everyone around him cracking up. He had a sharp wit and a huge heart. His voice was always changing, but his love for his children and grandchildren never wavered. He said “I love you” at the end of every phone call—no exceptions, no matter how short the call was or how many times you talked that day.

Mick loved his Harleys and rode them every chance he got, chasing sunsets and open roads with his signature blend of freedom and mischief. He never met a stranger, made fast friends at the dog park, and could tell you everything there was to know about a Harley and would happily share all of it—whether you asked or not. Whether he was at the dog park, going for a ride or sending his kids funny videos and memes, Mick was always spreading joy and laughter.

In his later years, his most cherished role was caring for his youngest daughter Carrie’s children while she worked. He often said it was his favorite job. He absolutely delighted in spending time with his grandkids, always finding joy and laughter in their company. Watching them grow brought him immense pride and countless moments of happiness.

He stood firm in what he believed, but more than anything, Mick believed in family, in love, and in squeezing every last drop out of life. He was the guy who’d sign up to skydive at 62 just to say he did it with his grandsons.

Mick is survived by his three children, Sarah Rich of Pleasanton, TX, Michael (Bethany) Schutt of Sheridan, WY and Carrie (Keith) Ogaard of Sheridan, WY. He also has six grandchildren, Austin, Aiden, Kaydence, Cole, Connor, and Ariyah, who will forever miss his voice (in all its hilarious forms), his fearless spirit, and the way he made every moment feel like a story worth telling.

In his honor, go for a ride, tell a joke, hug your people, and never hang up the phone without saying “I love you.”

Rest easy, Dad. Thanks for all the laughs. You were one of a kind. Ride on-the road won’t be the same without you.

A Celebration of Mick’s unforgettable Life will be held on July 26th at Emerson Park in Sheridan, WY from 2-6pm. We’ll share memories, shed a few tears, and definitely laugh—because that’s exactly what he would’ve wanted. Casual attire encouraged—Harley shirts, bad jokes, and big hugs welcome. Online condolences may be made to www.sheridanfuneral.com. Arrangements are under the care of Sheridan Funeral Home.
