SMH Vaccine Clinic administers 100 boosters on reopen as Regeneron supplies run low

Sheridan County has added another 20 lab confirmed positive cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 3,702. 

The county has added four probable cases, bringing that total to 1,065 since the pandemic began.     

Currently there are 237 active cases of the virus in the Sheridan County community. Fourteen patients are currently hospitalized battling the virus. Forty-three Sheridan County residents have died from the virus. 

According to COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves, seven patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. 

On Oct. 4, Sheridan Memorial Hospital began taking appointments to administer Pfizer vaccine booster shots for those who received the initial doses of the Pfizer vaccine and are at a higher risk from COVID-19. SMH leadership announced during a leadership meeting that approximately 100 boosters were given on the first day of administering those vaccines.

The Regeneron infusions that have helped so many at-risk patients over the last few months are in short supply and high demand throughout the nation, according to Addlesperger.

SMH staff are expecting a shipment of the antibody infusion as soon as tomorrow, but until that arrives, the infusion is being used only on those who are most at risk. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention list Sheridan County’s level of community transmission as HIGH.
