Wyoming Department of Corrections releases update on COVID-19

The Wyoming Department of Corrections has released the number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases and deaths related to the virus within their institutions as of March 25. 

According to the WDOC, three inmates have died as a result of the coronavirus in total. 

There are currently zero cases of the virus in the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution located in Torrington. The Wyoming Honor Conservation Camp, located in Newcastle and the Wyoming Women’s Center in Lusk also report zero cases of COVID-19. 

The Wyoming State Penitentiary located in Rawlins reports two cases among the staff and zero among the inmate population. The Wyoming Honor Farm in Riverton reports one case among the staff and 13 confirmed positives among the inmate population. 

According to The Wyoming Department of Corrections, working with the Wyoming Department of Health, all inmate positive cases are medically monitored and managed by the Department and their health care provider, Corizon Health Inc., in accordance with CDC guidelines. 

In a press release, the Department states they continue to conduct rigorous surveillance testing at all sites as necessary and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
