Deputy Boot Hill, SCSD #1 SRO, asks residents to mask-up during games so the kids can play

Sheridan County Sheriff’s Deputy Boot Hill is well known in Tounge Valley. His career in law enforcement began 1998 and in that time he served with the Goshen County Sheriff’s Office and the Sheridan Police Department.
Hill has served with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office since 2003. For approximately eight years he has served in the role of School Resource Officer for Sheridan County School District #1 and the D.A.R.E. Officer, instructing students on the dangers of drugs and alcohol and peer pressure.
“He is well known across the county and especially in the Tongue River Valley,” Sheridan County Sheriff Allen Thompson said in an email. “His notoriety is not limited to his unique name, as he is one of the foremost faces of the office due to his contacts in the schools and with the public.”
Hill is in a unique position, his role as the SRO gives him many opportunities to interact with students during the COVID-19 pandemic. He witnesses students correct one another on following Centers for Disease Control and Wyoming Department of Health coronavirus guidelines and the enthusiasm children have for being back in face-to-face instruction and interacting with fellow students.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Hill emphasized his understanding of the many ideologies being expressed by the families of students concerning CDC and WDH guidelines, but asked the public to adhere to those guidelines while attending sporting events.
