Entries Being Accepted for Annual WyoPoets Contest

Submissions for the WyoPoets 2021 Eugene V. Shea National Poetry Contest began being accepted as of October 1st, and will be open through the postmark deadline of December 31st.

According to a release from the organization, the annual contest is named in honor of Eugene V. Shea of Hanna, Wyoming, a long-time member and past president of WyoPoets.

He chaired the national contest for eight years, represented WyoPoets at numerous meetings of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, and served as a juror for poetry contests in other states.

He wrote more than 1,300 poems and published eight volumes of poetry.

Prizes for the contest are $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and $30 for third place.

Submissions must be unpublished poems in English, single-spaced with a maximum length of one page, written in 12-point Times New Roman.

There is an entry fee of $2 per poem, with a maximum 20 poems allowed to be submitted.
