The Museum at the Bighorns has undergone a major rebranding and website update amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The museum explores the history of former Sheridan residents that have lived lives of adventure and made history. Now, back by popular demand, residents can explore the cemeteries where these characters are buried with the Cemetery Tours.

Cemetery Tours offer a glimpse at a unique cross section of history. Connecting broad historical events with those that once called Sheridan home by exploring themes. Previous themes of the Cemetery Tours include Sheridan Founders, Women of Distinction, Red Light District, Murder and Suicide, as well as Union and Confederate Veterans.

Dates for the tours this year are Sept. 5, 15, 19, 22 and Oct. 3 with tour times at both 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A special tour will be given the nights of Sept. 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Museum at the Bighorns collections manager Jessica Knight told listeners that some old favorites are returning this year.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online or at the Museum at the Bighorns starting Aug. 1 and are limited.

The Museum at the Bighorns has also moved Tidbit online this summer. Tidbit is a children’s activity series posted by the Museum at the Bighorns. Each of the online Tidbit activities is designed to be accomplished with very few supplies at home. So far this summer the museum has done a Sheridan County Historic Bingo, a Nature Walk, town mapping, and even demonstrated how to make butter.

The museum will continue doing Tidbit activities over the summer season with tips and information on weaving, genealogy, and pictographs.
