Sheridan County Airport Sees Record Year
The past three years have been record-breaking years for the Sheridan County Airport. In 2025, the airport saw 60,339 passengers flow through. This is a 6.3% increase for the twice daily round-up flights to Denver by Sky West, flying for United Airlines.
Airport manager Robert Gill said they still offer two flights daily from the airport, but every year they have improved over the previous year. The new flight schedule that took effect in June helped to boost the numbers as did additional flights over Thanksgiving week.
The Sheridan-Johnson Critical Air Service Team (CAST), made up of representatives of cities, counties travel and tourism, the chamber of commerce and local citizens have promoted and worked with the airlines to constantly improve service. The group continues to work towards service without a minimum revenue guarantee, larger aircraft and more flights. The continued growth in passengers is the key to achieving those goals.
Gill added,

Gill said he hopes that they can maintain the extra flight for Sheridan.
He said those wanting to book could find the additional flights online, and to book a flight go to United at united.com.
The Sheridan County Airport continues to improve, with additional parking planned and improved taxiway and ramp space under construction.
Gill said that the partnership with Skywest and United has been very successful for Sheridan. He added that the airport is also seeing more people coming to Sheridan as a destination instead of just a stopover between the Black Hills and Yellowstone. He said that while the airport is busy in the summer, the parking area is not as busy, as more people come into Sheridan and perhaps rent cars instead of flying out of the airport.
