Citizen Speaks to Sheridan Commission on ‘Holding Electeds Accountable’
During the Public Comment section of the recent Sheridan County Commission meeting, county resident Harry Pollak talked to the commissioners about an incident concerning one of the county commissioners that he felt should be brought to their attention.
Pollak said the trip to Casper was about 300 miles round-trip, and at 70 cents per mile, along with the cost of fuel, he felt the county should be reimbursed about $251.
He closed by saying he did not think the incident was intentional.
Commission Chairman Lonnie Wright thanked Pollak for his opinion, and no action was taken by the commission.

The statements made by Commissioner Siddle at the legislative meeting provided information to the committee on the impact to counties if a 5 cent tax increase on fuel would pass. He specifically identified the formula on how the revenue would be distributed and pointed out that he felt it would be a long shot to pass.
There was nothing inappropriate about his comments. This is the educational and advocacy responsibility of both the WCCA and the individual county commissioners. It is not lobbying. Ironically, even if it was, lobbying is neither unethical nor illegal. What a tempest in a teacup.

Both his actions and words were wrong. He used taxpayer-supplied time and money to lobby for higher taxes.
That’s called use mis-use of public funds. And is as wrong as it could be.

Real Republicans don’t try to defend higher taxes and bigger gov’t.

Gail, you clearly have zero clue with what you are talking about. Not only don’t you know the facts but now your just making things up. It’s good to know you think this so trivial. Maybe you out to pay Commissioner Siddles reimbursement to the taxpayers!!

I was first made aware of Mr. Pollak’s statements through social media sources, and not through his bringing it before the Commission. Mr. Pollak had taken photos of Mr. Siddle’s signature along with other photos showing proof of these “concerning incident.” The social media posts have since been removed by the original poster and those whom shared it. The actions of following elected officials around posting on social media then removing them before coming to the Commission in the name of “holding them accountable” boarders on stalking and harassment. It is also interesting that the two Commissioners who align more with the ultra-right freedom caucus never seem to have this much attention to them. Are these actions in the name of “accountability” or more for vengeance and defamation of professional character after the supposed “failed four” lawsuit?

Mr. Morris you are making liable remarks that you know are a completely false. The fact that you can’t, won’t provide any evidence because as you stated have been removed is a terrible excuse and an all in out lie. The fact is nothing was posted on any social media platform until after public comments were heard. And to further show your lack of integrity, the original post on December 6th is still available. Gets your facts straight!!

All electeds will be held accountable when they screw-up. Using taxpayer money to lobby for higher taxes (ie more taxpayer money) will always be wrong.
He used a brand new, $80 thousand-dollar Jeep, to travel to Casper to say the “poor” gov’t “needed” a gas tax hike to survive. All while being paid for his time by tax-payers!
He’s still paying the price for violating the vacancy-replacement law, by having extra scrutiny on his actions.
But it was his own lawless decision that brought that attention on himself.
Glad to see that the “failed four” label has stuck. Hopefully for eternity!
In America, when elected officials blatantly violate the law; they will be held to account.

Oh and if you’re keeping score at home, it’s one down and three to go, of the “Failed Four” commissioners who “failed” to follow the law on filling vacancies on the board.
Before long it’ll be three down and only one to go.
