Governor Gordon Underscores Support for Department of Health and President Trump’s Rural Health Transformation Project
Governor Mark Gordon (R-WY) Monday, underscored his support for his budget recommendations regarding the Wyoming Department of Health. The budget recommends targeted increases to sustain Wyoming’s network of critical providers, including support for developmental preschool services, home-health reimbursement for high-needs children, improved OBGYN access, and community-based resources that allow seniors and those with developmental disabilities to be served in their homes or the most appropriate community settings.
The Governor also emphasized his strong support of President Trump’s innovative Rural Health Transformation Project (RHTP). The RHTP emphasizes the need to safeguard access to essential health services for families, seniors, in rural communities across the Cowboy state. In his budget message, the Governor laid out a clear vision for strengthening Wyoming’s health care system through continuing his policy of strategic, long-term investments rather than short-term fixes. He highlighted rising costs, workforce pressures, and gaps in access, particularly in rural areas across Wyoming, as significant challenges the state must confront directly.
The Governor has submitted an exception request in his budget for the federal spending authority necessary for the Wyoming Department of Health to begin implementation once the plan receives final approval.
