Director of CHAPS Equine Assisted Services Kristen Marcus made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to announce that the organization has earned its second accreditation for equine assistance programs.

To achieve this milestone, CHAPS completed a lengthy application and accreditation process that included on-site visits from both the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International and the Certified Horseman’s Association. Those multi-day visits ensured that CHAPS not only met each organization’s principles and values but had built them into its daily culture.

Marcus said those values and criteria consist of multiple pages outlining rigorous requirements to achieve both certifications.

Although CHAPS has followed those standards for years, the second accreditation makes it the only dual-accredited equine therapy 501(c)(3) in Wyoming.

The distinction also opens doors to new grant opportunities, including funding from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to support veteran equine therapy programs held at CHAPS.
