Jo Co Commission Updated on 2026 CMAQ Agreement

The 2026 Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) agreement was discussed by the Johnson County Commission and Road & Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer during a recent commission meeting.

Pehringer said there is a new process to apply for CMAQ funding.

According to discussion, Road & Bridge had to submit maps of the county showing what roads were impacted by agriculture, rangeland and farmland, residential, and oil and gas production.

Pehringer added that he believes Johnson County must have scored pretty high in the new scoring system, because traditionally the county has seen a cut in their requested funds of anywhere from $50,000 to $80,000 as opposed to the $31,000 cut in requested funds for next year.
