Nine Graduate from Arvada-Clearmont Sunday

Arvada-Clearmont High School presented diplomas and scholarships to nine graduates on Sunday, May 18.
Superintendent Chase Christensen had this advice for the graduates.
The senior colors were silver and blue, and pots of pink peonies and white lilies decorated the podium and the tables. The class song was ‘I Lived” by One Republic. The welcome was presented by Ian Andreen and scholarships were awarded to many of the seniors.

Dellana Michelena was class salutatorian and she talked about change, and the changes the seniors went through in high school. She said that the change of moving off to college can seem terrifying. She said when faced with fear, there are two options.

Michelena is a member of the National Honor Society, Sources of Strength, and plans to attend the University of Wyoming, majoring in Environmental Systems Science. She wants to continue her education by going to law school and become an environmental lawyer.

Valedictorian was Abigail Odegard, and she had this advice for her fellow graduates,
Odegard is a member of the National Honors Society, Sources of Strength, and the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. She plans to attend Black Hills State University and major in Exercise Science and then attend Physical Therapy school.

Dellana Michelena passed the branding iron on to Skye Malli. Each year the senior class colors are attached to the branding iron and it is then passed on to the junior class.
Commencement speaker was Caleb Green. He urged the graduates to follow the voice of their heart.
There was a memory slideshow of the graduates, and they formed a semi-circle on the floor in front of the screen to watch their lives, up to this point, unfold.

Mortarboards were tossed in the air and confetti was shot from cannons to celebrate the last year of high school and the start of a new chapter in the nine graduate’s lives.
