The City of Sheridan will be seeking federal dollars for Sheridan Fire Rescue. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

The City will be applying for a federal grant for the purchase of a new fire apparatus for Sheridan Fire Rescue. A resolution was recently approved by the City Council that authorizes the submission of a Federal Mineral Royalty Capital Construction Account Grant (MRG) application to help fund the new apparatus. Harnish said that if the MRG grant application is approved, the City would then match the grant.

Harnish said that getting a quote for the new fire apparatus is in the process and that it’s estimated at $1.2 to 1.3 million.

    Federal funding is in flux. One day there is no federal funding and the next day ???? We need to have our first responders fully equipped but they don’t need the stress of not knowing if the funding will be there or not.
