Fire Chief invites community to open house Oct. 12

City of Sheridan Councilman Greg Luhman and City Fire Chief Gary Harnish made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to talk a little about Fire Prevention Week.
Fire Prevention Week is a nationally observed week in the United States and Canada from Sunday to Saturday in which Oct. 9, falls. In the United States, the first Presidential Proclamation of the week was made in 1925 by Calvin Coolidge.
Chief Harnish said it is an excellent opportunity for the community to take a few moments and check the batteries and the placement of fire alarms throughout their residence.

The Chief also suggested having an ABC type fire extinguisher in a location of the home that is known by all people living in the house and is easily accessible.

Over the course of the week, grade school classes have been visiting the Fire House, learning the importance of fire safety and getting tours from some of Sheridan’s bravest. The Chief has invited the entire community to an open house at the Sheridan Fire Station 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12

The event will include station tours, a junior firefighter combat challenge, and displays of fire trucks and equipment.
