Ron RichterSheridan Fire-Rescue, Sheridan Police Department, Goose Valley Fire Department, and Wyoming Regional EMS responded to 1007 Park Street at 4:09 Sunday afternoon for the report of a structure fire. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Sheridan Fire-Rescue Engine 2 and the on-duty battalion chief arrived on scene at 4:13 to find a single wide mobile home with fire showing from the rear exterior of the home and the surrounding grass. A preconnected handline was deployed to initiate fire attack.
Officers with the SPD assisted the fire crew with confirming all residents out of the home and provided traffic control. Wyoming Regional EMS responded to standby for civilian and firefighter safety. Goose Valley Fire Department responded to provide additional apparatus and personnel for extinguishing the fire. The fire on the exterior of the structure was brought under control quickly and the crew transitioned to contain the grass fire before it reached nearby structures.
After the grass fire was controlled, the fire crews checked for fire and smoke extension inside of the structure with minimal extension found. The building was systematically ventilated and overhauled to remove all residual smoke, heat, and the potential for rekindle. The scene was left in control of Goose Valley and no civilians or emergency personnel were injured during the fire.
Sheridan Fire-Rescue continues to stress the importance of using extreme caution while outdoors with items that can lead to starting fires. The grass and brush is very dry, and the weather this week will remain warm and dry.
