Staffing woes at Johnson County Healthcare Center’s Amie Holt Care Center have eased recently, with new staff members being added.

The director hopes to be able to add more residents in the near future.

In her report to the hospital board Wednesday night, AHCC Director of Nursing Brenda Gorm gave the good news.

The care center has operated for many months with a shortage of staff and has therefore had to reduce their resident population.

Gorm said with the additional staff, they can look at adding more residents.

The care center, according to Gorm, has four new staff members that will eventually be Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).

Dr. Mark Schueler said this report from Gorm seemed more upbeat than in recent months, which she addressed.

Gorm said it turned around quickly because just two months ago she wasn’t reporting good news on staffing.
