Christmas Open House at Trail End Historic Site

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 1, 2 and 3, the Trail End Historic Site hosted the annual Kendrick Mansion Holiday Open House, where guest could tour the decorated rooms, listen to Christmas music, youngsters could visit Father Christmas, and tell him their Christmas wishes. Father Christmas talked about his visit to the mansion, saying he has been coming down from the North Pole for 14 years now to visit the mansion. He said that more and more youngsters come each year to see him.

To have reindeer bells, one needs reindeer, and Father Christmas explains where the reindeer are when he is at the mansion.

Father Christmas added this about the Kendrick Mansion.

Two guests and their children who attended the open house were Toby and Heather Thon, who is a teacher at Big Horn School. The Thon’s were married in the Kendrick Mansion, and they recently moved to Ranchester with their family.

Shelly Reinke a volunteer said that she has been helping with the open house for three years, and she and her daughter helped to decorate the mansion this year.

Shari Shada, Trail End Site Superintendent, said this about the open house this year.

She also talked about the upcoming Christmas with the Kendricks event which will be on Dec. 15, 16, and 17.

There was also live music with many different musicians performing throughout the tour. Guest could also enjoy hot drinks and a sample of figgy pudding as well.

Shada also mentioned the upcoming Fetterman Fight talk to be held at Fort Phil Kearny on Dec. 21, and the First Day Hikes at Trail End and Fort Phil Kearny on Jan. 1. There will be more information on these events on Sheridan Media.
