Travel on Thanksgiving Day could be an obstacle thanks to Mother Nature.

The National Weather Service in Billings, Montana and in Riverton, Wyoming have issued a winter storm warning for Sheridan and Johnson Counties.

The warning for Sheridan County is in effect from 12:01am Thursday until 6am Friday.

Three-to-8 inches of snowfall is in the forecast and 6-to-12 inches in the mountains.

The warning for Johnson County is in effect from 5am Thursday until 11am Friday.

Six to 12 inches of snowfall is forecasted and up to 20 inches is forecasted for the southern mountain range.

The National Weather Service advises that untreated roads, as well as bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous, which could impact Thanksgiving day and Friday travel.

This includes travel on I-90 and I-25.

If travel is absolutely necessary during the warning period, drive with extreme caution.

Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you.
